Significant contributions:
Intellectual Property Rights related Activities: Took leadership role in formulating and implementing peoples’ bio-diversity register involving all stakeholders in conserving their own resources at Kalyani, West Bengal, India.; Prepared a bio-diversity register of banana of West Bengal. Submitted to West Bengal Bio-Diversity Board for Publication; Took leadership role in formulating Geographical Indication of three mango varieties i.e. Fazli, Lakshmanbhog and Khirsapati (Himsagar) on behalf of Department of Science & Technology, GOW.
Research/Teaching Involvements :
Involved under-graduate and post-graduate level teaching (since 1986).; Established Plant Health Diagnostic Laboratory as Principal Investigator.; Guiding/Guided 7 Ph.D. students and 13 M.Sc. students in following areas : Studies on population dynamics of insect pests of mustard with special reference to Lipaphis erysimi Kalt and development of forewarning models.; Studies on the insect pests of cucurbits (bitter gourd and cucumber) and their management : Studies taken up on population dynamics of insect-pests, pest-weather modelling etc. on cucurbitaceous crops. 1 PhD student and 3 PG students completed work. 5 articles published.; Studies on insect-pests of mango with special reference to hopper, leaf-cutting weevil, gallicolous insects, fruit borer and fruit fly. 2 PhD students and 3 P.G. students completed work; Studies on possibilities of using neem based products in IPM initiatives: 1 PhD. student and I PG student working; Examiner at PG & PhD level in different Universities.
